SAUK RAPIDS - The Benton County Sheriff's office is investigating a death.  Wednesday the St. Cloud Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff's Office investigated the report of a missing 22-year-old man. The discovery of this body is believed to be related to that missing person report.

On Tuesday just before 3:00 p.m. police were called about the man who had not been seen since late in the prior evening when he was out with friends. Officers determined the man was last seen alone and on foot at about 2:00 a.m. in the parking lot of a business at 500 66th Street Northwest in Sauk Rapids.

At about 11:00 a.m. Wednesday a St. Cloud investigator was in that area looking for signs of the missing man and that is when a body was found in the ditch near the intersection of County Road 33 and Highway 10.

The body was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiners for an autopsy and positive identification.

The investigation into the death remains active and ongoing.
