ISANTI (AP) - Authorities say a man has turned himself in to the Isanti County Sheriff's Office after a skateboarding teen was killed in hit-and-run.

The sheriff's office says the suspect turned himself in Friday and is cooperating with law enforcement. Fifteen-year-old Antonio Demeules was killed in the hit-and-run Thursday night.

According to the sheriff's office, another driver had seen the teen skateboarding down the middle of a road near Isanti while wearing dark clothing. That driver later went back through the area and found the teen severely injured, and he was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The sheriff's office says the driver who hit the teen may not have known, and that investigators believe it was a "terrible accident."

Isanti is about 40 miles north of Minneapolis.
