BROOKLYN CENTER (AP) - A man who suffered at least one gunshot wound died outside a Brooklyn Center hotel as he banged on a door to get inside.

Police say officers tried life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene of the Super 8 parking lot. Cmdr. Tim Gannon says no arrests have been made in the shooting.

Gannon says it appears the man's wounds were suffered within a block or so from the hotel and that he had come from the direction of a Denny's restaurant. A nearby van was towed by police. Gannon says he's not sure whether the van is connected to the victim or a suspect.
