MINNETONKA (AP) - Authorities say a 35-year-old man was able to escape from his sinking truck after it went through the ice on Lake Minnetonka.

According to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department, the incident happened Wednesday night in Lafayette Bay.

Lt. Kent Vnuk of the department's Water Patrol unit says the man was heading to his fish house, which wasn't a posted thin-ice area. He says the man was able to climb out of the truck, pull himself onto the ice and scream for help.

Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene after a neighbor called for help. Vnuk says four deputies formed a human chain and rescued the man. He was brought to shore and taken to a hospital.

Vnuk says the man's dog couldn't be rescued from the truck.
