Man Pleads Guilty in Shooting Outside Minneapolis Hospital

MINNEAPOLIS -- Prosecutors say a 23-year-old man has pleaded guilty for his role in a gang-related shooting outside a downtown Minneapolis hospital two years ago.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman says Percy Lacey of Minneapolis pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree assault and attempted murder for the benefit of a gang. Lacey is expected to be sentenced to nearly 19 years in prison.

Lacey was accused in an August 2014 shooting outside Hennepin County Medical Center. Authorities say the shooting resulted from heightened tensions between two gangs.

Members of a rival gang had gathered at HCMC after two of their associates were wounded in a drive-by shooting. No one was hurt, but the bullets shattered the emergency room doors and sent staff and patients ducking for cover.
