Man Killed During Police Chase In St. Cloud, Waite Park

ST. CLOUD - A police chase in St. Cloud ended tragically.  St. Cloud police say the incident started at about 5:00 p.m. yesterday (Friday) when officers with the Central Minnesota Drug Task Force asked for help stopping a vehicle.

An officer from the Waite Park police department and Stearns County Deputies spotted the car near Highway 15 and 2nd Street South.  They pursued the vehicle for about a half-mile, when that vehicle hit the side of another car at 2nd Street South and Waite Avenue.  The 30-year-old man driving that car was killed.  The 22-year-old woman passenger is eight months pregnant.  She and her unborn baby are listed in serious but stable condition at St. Cloud Hospital.

After the suspect hit the car, he ran on foot.  Officers arrested him a short time later. He's identified as 22-year-old Timothy Gilles of Waite Park.

No other information is expected to be released until Monday.
