EDINA (AP) — The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating after authorities say a man escaped custody following his arrest for a parole violation.

Twenty-One-year-old Ryan McMahon has been charged with escape from custody in a July 27 incident at the county courthouse in Edina. Authorities say courthouse security realized he had escaped custody about 35 minutes after his arrest.

A criminal complaint says a bail bond agent was let into a secure holding area while McMahon was using a phone by the door, and deputies realized he was gone a short time later. Court records say he was arrested about three hours later in St. Paul.

The sheriff's office says it's looking into the chain of events of the incident.

McMahon is in jail on $50,000 bond. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
