Man Dies in Speedboat Accident on Mississippi River

CHAMPLIN, Minn. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a speedboat accident that killed a man on the Mississippi River in the northwestern Twin Cities.

A spokeswoman for the Hennepin County sheriff's office says the accident was reported just before 4 p.m. Thursday at Mississippi Point Park in Champlin.

Authorities say the accident involved only one boat. The only person involved was the man who died.

His name was not immediately released. The county medical examiner's office will release the victim's name and cause of death.
