DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - St. Louis County authorities say a 50-year-old man has died after a gun accidentally discharged and a bullet hit him in the abdomen.

The St. Louis County sheriff's office said in a statement Monday that deputies responded around 6 p.m. Sunday to a home north of Duluth in Gnesen Township. The man told officers he dropped a firearm and it went off. A .22-caliber bullet struck him in the lower abdomen.

The victim was treated by first responders and paramedics but he died of his injury.

His name has not been released.

Authorities are still investigating but say foul play is not suspected.
