MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A 44-year-old man has died after a punch to the face in what police are calling a random attack in downtown Minneapolis.

According to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office, Adrian Hernandez, of Minneapolis, suffered injuries to his brain about 2:45 a.m. Aug. 22. He died Sunday night.

Hernandez had his cellphone stolen from his pocket as he lay unconscious and bleeding.

Police arrested 20-year-old Vereice Washington, of Brooklyn Center. Police say they found Hernandez's phone in Washington's possession.

Washington has so far been charged with aggravated robbery and first-degree assault. Hernandez's death could mean additional charges will be filed. He remains jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Police say two other men were involved in the attack but have not been arrested.
