MILACA (AP) — A Brooklyn Park man has been charged with manslaughter and assault in a confrontation at a resort on Mille Lacs Lake.

Prosecutors allege that 44-year-old David Michael Stay assaulted 46-year-old David Taute, of Prior Lake, at Nitti's Hunters Point Resort early Saturday. Taute died at a Twin Cities hospital.

According to the criminal complaint filed Monday, witnesses said Stay knocked out Taute with one punch to the jaw. The complaint says Stay admitted knocking Taute out, but gave no explanation for why except that Taute had been pushing him. It says security video shows Stay throwing the punch but nothing that might have provoked the attack.

A phone number listed to Stay was not working Monday. It's not clear if he has an attorney. He's fee on $10,000 bail.
