Man Accused of Slashing Girlfriend’s Neck Found Guilty
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - A St. Paul man accused of slashing his pregnant girlfriend's throat has been found guilty of attempted murder and assault.
A jury reportedly convicted 31-year-old Steven Michael Gutierrez on Friday in the July attack. His trial began Tuesday and jury deliberations started Thursday.
A criminal complaint says Gutierrez's girlfriend was found in a pool of blood and needed life-saving surgery. Authorities say Gutierrez was arrested after the attack in Milbank, South Dakota, at a woman's apartment.
Gutierrez is scheduled to be sentenced April 28.
