FOLEY -- A repeat domestic abuser is being held in the Benton County Jail on $10,000 bail after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's home while on a meth binge and assaulted her.

Thirty-year-old Joshua Hoffman is charged in Benton County District Court with first degree burglary and two counts of felony domestic assault.

Court records show Hoffman went to the woman's apartment on East St. Germain Street on March 18th, entered her apartment unit uninvited and asked to stay there while he came down from being high on meth. The woman refused and demanded he leave.

The woman told authorities the argument became physical when Hoffman knocked her to the ground, put his hand around her throat preventing her from breathing, bit her thumb, and pulled her hair.

Hoffman was ultimately arrested and booked into the Benton County Jail. He has three prior domestic assault convictions in Anoka and Wright counties and a domestic abuse order for protection violation in Sherburne County.
