Lumberjacks Soar Over Flying Aces

SAUK RAPIDS -- Three different Granite City Lumberjacks each scored two goals in an 8-2 blowout victory over the Minnesota Flying Aces on Friday night.

The Lumberjacks bookended the first period with goals as Tommy Hutsell scored just over one minute into the game and Will Mix extended the Granite City lead to 2-0 in the final minute of the opening period.

Tanner Skaja scored two straight goals in the second period before Mix added his second goal of the game to give the Lumberjacks a 5-0 lead heading into the final period.

Not to be outdone by his teammates, Granite City's Kyle Wendorf added two goals of his own in the third period en route to the decisive 8-2 victory.

With the win, the Lumberjacks improve to 7-2 on the season. Granite City will travel to take on Breezy Point tonight at 7:30 p.m.
