SAUK RAPIDS -- Whether you're an experienced pet owner, or looking for your first, Lucky's Place in Sauk Rapids has a pet right for you.

June in National Adopt A Cat Month. Owner Jan Hansmeier says Lucky's Place began in 2004, after she helped an injured stray cat back to health.

"The vet told me the cat (Lucky) was probably just a stray and not worth the surgery he would need and that was the beginning of Lucky's Place."

Hansmeier says just about every cat you find in a shelter can be adoptable, it's just about finding the right personalities to match.

"We do have cats here that need experienced cat owners but plenty of them are fine, they can go home with inexperienced cat owners and I'm happy to be a resource throughout the life of the cat."

She says it's important to do your research before making any commitment to a pet, but if you're ready, they have the next addition to your family.

"The cat will pick you and much as you pick the cat and we want people to introduce themselves and let the cats evaluate you to see if they want to be apart of the family."
