Louise was born to Aaron and Olivia (Hall) Long in St. Cloud on September 20, 1923. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1941 and was a “Drum Corps girl.” After High School she attended and graduated from Beauty School. She married Victor Yager on June 29, 1943 at Holy Angels Church in St. Cloud. Louise was involved in many businesses with her husband over the years, including the Ace Bar and Grill, Consolidated Oil, and Vilo Bowling Lanes. She owned and managed Long’s Beauty Shop from the 1970’s to 1997 and made many friends through the business. In more recent years, Louise had been involved in the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.) volunteering at Catholic Charities, St. Benedict’s Kitchen, and at Senior Helping Hands. Louise was both an active bowler on St. Cloud leagues and a dedicated American Red Cross Blood donor well into her 80’s. Louise was known for her Republican views, watching Fox News, and had her definite opinions, but was still accepting of opinions other than her own. Her hobbies besides bowling included knitting and crocheting, cooking and baking (red velvet cake especially), shopping, and decorating for Christmas.

Louise is survived by three sons, Tom (Faye) of Alexandria, Terry (Jean) of Sauk Rapids, and Tim of Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Jason, Tracie, and Chris Yager, Anne Pogatchnik, Kim Yager DeAustin, Mike, Matt, and Mitch Yager. She was delighted with five great grandchildren, Dylan Yager-Friede, Nolah Yager, Roland Victor Yager, Elena Louise and Luke Pogatchnik, and Sierra Louise Yager born in Arizona this July 2017. Louise is also survived by her sister-in-law Phyllis Yager in Cody, Wyoming, and numerous nieces and nephews, particularly the Knaus clan in the Kimball area. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Vic in 1996; her parents; four sisters, Olive, Laverne, Florence, and Marguerite; and one brother, Lowell.

Louise’s family would like to thank St. Benedict’s Center, CentraCare Hospice, and Ridgeview Place as well as Dr. Abigail Taylor for their exceptional care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
