Funeral services celebrating the life of Loretta B. Kohler, 93, of Paynesville will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville. Loretta passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Koronis Manor Care Center in Paynesville. Reverend Robert Kandels will officiate. Burial will be in Paynesville Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

Loretta was born on July 14, 1922 in Lake Henry Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Charles and Stella (Beier) Kohler. She was baptized at the Rural Grove Church and confirmed at the E.U.B Church (now the Methodist Church in Paynesville). She attended School District #30 in Regal. Loretta was employed as a waitress in Hutchinson and later as a housekeeper at the Paynesville Hospital. She worked at the hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1962. She was a member of the Paynesville Senior Citizens and Mary’s Circle at Grace United Methodist Church.

Loretta loved traveling. She visited all 50 states, the Holy Land, Hawaii, Alaska and Australia. But climbing the Great Wall of China (about 500 steps) and receiving her certificate was one of her fondest memories. She also loved flowers and spent many hours in her large flower garden. Loretta won many ribbons at the Grace United Methodist Flower Show.

She is survived by extended family in the Paynesville area, the Kohlers, Beiers and Snyders.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant sister, Ruth.
