Loose Tire Hits Van, Hurts 1 In Benton County

RICE - One person was hurt when the van they were in was struck by a loose tire.

The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened at about 2:30 p.m. this (Tuesday) afternoon on Highway 10 near Julie Avenue, south of Rice.

A van driven by 22-year-old Zachary Szprejda of Stevens Point, Wisconsin was going south when a tire fell off a northbound vehicle. The tire crossed the median and struck the van, which caused the van to go into the ditch and roll.

A passenger in the van, Taylor Henderson of Carney, Michigan suffered non life-threatening injuries. She was taken to St. Cloud Hospital.
