ST. PAUL (AP) - The Minnesota Legislature is meeting over the weekend as the clock counts down on the regular session.

The House and Senate are both convening Saturday. Sunday sessions are also a good possibility, with a late Monday deadline to adjourn the regular session.

On Saturday, the House may take up a Democratic bill that would authorize a union vote for home daycare providers who receive state subsidies. Republicans in the minority strongly oppose the measure, and have urged fellow opponents to come to the Capitol on Saturday to protest it.

Also likely on Saturday are House and Senate votes on final pieces of the state budget, including a tax bill with income tax hikes on the wealthy and a cigarette tax increase.
