ST. CLOUD -- The National Spelling Bee will not have a local representative.

8th graders John Byun of St. Cloud and Morgan Paulson of Sauk Rapids-Rice were knocked out of the Multi-Region State Spelling Bee this (Monday) afternoon.

Byun was knocked out in the fifth round after misspelling the word "charpoy," while Paulson was knocked out in the first round after misspelling the word ballerina.

Other regional spelling bee winners 7th grader Nicholas Little from Dassel-Cokato and 8th grader Olivia Sorenson of St. Michael-Albertville also did not advance.

8th grader Logan Griggs from Duluth won the competition and will compete in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. May 22nd through the 28th.
