ST. JOSEPH - Five Little Free Libraries have popped up in St. Joseph parks this summer.

Libraries have been put in at Hollow Park, Klinefelter Park, the Lake Wobegon Trailhead, Cloverdale Park and Northland Park.

John Anderson is chair of the city park board and says a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book and bring back another to share.

"They contain books that people are free to take or if they want to leave books there, they can do that."

Anderson credits citizen Abby Lyon for spearheading the effort to install the libraries.

Local groups can adopt one of the little libraries. Recently, an area boy scout group adopted one of them.
