The Little Falls Flyers topped the ROCORI Spartans 7-2 Thursday afternoon in the Class AAA baseball state tournament at Dick Siebert Field. The loss was just ROCORI's fourth of the season and sends them to the consolation bracket.

ROCORI struck first on an Austin Dufner RBI single in the second inning, but Little Falls would tie the game in the fourth on a Braden Backowski RBI single to left field.

The Spartans threatened in the top of the sixth inning, starting the frame with back-to-back singles, but Flyers pitcher Thomas Miller threw out lead runner Jordan Barth at third base on Will Huls' bunt. Dylan TeBrake tried to score on Austin Dufner's single to right field but was thrown out by Little Falls outfielder Dan Mahrod.

The Flyers jumped on Spartans starter Ryan Hennen in the bottom of the sixth inning for six runs and a 7-1 lead. Alec Anderson would add an RBI single for ROCORI in the top of the seventh inning but the comeback attempt fell well short.

ROCORI (21-4) will play against New Ulm Friday in the consolation bracket at 12 p.m. The game can be heard on AM 1390 The Fan.
