LITCHFIELD - Litchfield-based Sparboe Farms has been reeling over the past week, after an undercover video was released, showing alleged abuse of the chickens.  They've lost contracts with several major companies, including: McDonald's, Target, and Sam's Club.

WJON news spoke with Litchfield Mayor Keith Johnson this (Wednesday) morning about how this story has affected the town.

Johnson says Sparboe Farms were started back in the 1950's, and the community is standing behind them, and know the company will bounce back.

Johnson says Sparboe's Litchfield facility employs about 100 people.  Sparboe has plants in several communities in the upper midwest, including one in Wayzata.

Johnson says he hasn't talked to the company executives since the news broke, but he did write them a letter of support.
