ST. CLOUD -- A decision on whether to address the renovation of Clark Field appears to be close.

Superintendent Bruce Watkins brought a plan to the school board Wednesday night during a working session.

If approved by the board during their next public meeting, voters would see a second levy question on the fall ballot that would raise $2 million, $1.5 million of which that would go to the Clark Field renovation with $500,000 going to improvements at the Michie Stadium Complex.

Board chair Bruce Mohs - who recused himself from the discussion - says in order for the second levy question to be considered, the first levy question needs to pass.

The $1.5 million portion from the school district will need to be matched by the Tech Alumni Association, in order to total the $3 million in repairs.

Clark Field, which opened in 1942, was closed due to the conditions of the concession stands, bathrooms and issues with mold. The board is scheduled to hold their next public meeting May 23rd.
