Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Rejoice Lutheran Church in Clearwater for Leonard E. “Stubby” Samuelson, Jr. age 83 of Clearwater who passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at his home. Reverend Laurie Weis and Reverend Denise Croskey will officiate. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Clearwater.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Rejoice Lutheran Church and continuing after 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Arrangements were made by the Daniel Funeral Home, Clearwater.
Stubby was born May 2, 1932 in Battle Lake, Minnesota to Lennerd and Josephine (Simonson) Samuelson. He married Mardel G. “Marty” Larson on May 4, 1957 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria. The couple lived in Alexandria until 1965 and central Minnesota until settling in Clearwater in 1971. Stubby was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic by C.S. McCrossan Inc. in Maple Grove for many years retiring in 2013. He was a member of I.U.O.E. Local #49 and Rejoice Lutheran Church.

Stubby is survived by his children, Sam (Candy) of Clearwater, Dan (Joan) of Monticello and Simona of Monticello; four grandchildren Kali (Chad) Pichotta, Jake, Ellen and Maria; one great granddaughter, Lexi; brothers, Dennis of Battle Lake, Kelly of Underwood and Ralph of Parkers Prairie; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marty on December 7, 2015; sister, Lela Bothun; brothers, Willmar, Roy, Milo, Glen and infant brother, Lester.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
