Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley for Leonard C. Nistler, age 94, of Watkins and formerly of Eden Valley who died Monday at Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. Rev. Edward Vebelun will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Eden Valley. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Leonard was born June 10, 1923 in Eden Valley to Anton & Mary (Statz) Nistler. He married Burgetta Zimmerman on October 13, 1947 in Eden Valley. Leonard served his country in the Merchant Marines during WWII. Leonard was self-employed as a carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church where he served as usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop P.J. Casey Council 2029. Leonard was also a member of the Eden Valley Legion Post 381 and Litchfield VFW Post 2818. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, flying, and playing cards and dominos. He was a proud, punctual, hardworking and honest man with a strong faith. Leonard was a great joke teller and enjoyed his coffee each morning!

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Burgetta of Watkins; children, Rene Kohlhoff of Eden Valley, Ken (Barbara) of Richmond, Mike (Sue) of Jacobs Prairie, Sharon Nistler & special friend Dick White of Hutchinson, Gary (Wendy) of Big Lake, Joyce (Tim) Turner of Big Lake; sisters, Ann Schoolmeisters and Fran Tintes both of Litchfield; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Lois Ann; sister, Marie Hollar; brothers, Ole, Frank, Leo, Werner, Adolph, Peter, Walter and Jack.
