Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11AM Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Mary’s Help of Christian Catholic Church in St. Augusta for Leona M. Storms, age 98, who passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta. The Rev. Jose Edayadiyil will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8PM Wednesday and 1 hour prior to services on Thursday at the gathering space at St. Mary’s Help of Christians Church in St. Augusta. Christian Women will pray the rosary at 6PM Wednesday followed by parish prayers.

Leona was born in St. Augusta Township to J. Henry & Josephine (Toenjes) Gohman. She married Vernon L. Storms on November 27, 1945 at St. Mary’s Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta. Leona devoted herself as a homemaker and loving mother to their three children. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Help of Christians and the Christian Women. She was also a member of the Clearwater American Legion Auxiliary. Leona was best known for her cooking and baking, always having a cake or cookies ready to share; she was a gracious hostess who doted over family and friends. She was a gentle and kind woman, whose smile touched all who knew her. She loved to play cards and was always ready for a game. Above all, Leona was a woman of deep faith, offering prayers, especially the rosary, for anyone in need.

Survivors include her son and daughters, Gene (Beverly) Storms of Eden Prairie, Elaine Kiffmeyer of Clearwater and Joann (Daniel) McMullen of Annandale; 8 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren, with another on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; son-in-law, Wendelin Kiffmeyer; grandson, Ryan; brothers, Norbert, Ernest and twin brother Leonard Gohman and sister, Dolores Eveslage.

Memorials are preferred to St. Mary Help of Christians Church or Quiet Oaks Hospice House.

The family would like to thank Dr.’s Lalley and Pladson and all of the wonderful staff and volunteers at Centra Care Hospice and Quiet Oaks Hospice House.
