Legendary producer and TV host Dick Clark has died of a massive heart attack.

He was 82.

Clark's rep says, the TV icon had been in St. John's hospital in L.A. after undergoing an outpatient procedure last night. Clark suffered the "massive" heart attack following the procedure. Attempts to

resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Clark suffered a massive stroke in 2006, but he continued to produce and was fixture on New Years Eve shows.

He married three times, but his third wife -- a Central Minnesota native -- was for keeps.

Karen Wigton grew up in St. Cloud. Her dad worked for local contracting company, Barbarossa and Sons.

Kari -- as she's called -- was a cheerleader at Tech High School and was the Homecoming Queen in 1959. She graduated from Tech in 1960.

Her family soon moved to Los Angeles where she would later meet Dick Clark. They married in 1970 and moved to Malibu.

The Clarks visited St. Cloud in 1990 when Dick emceed the Cathedral High School fundraiser, "Rockin' Round the Clock."
