Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley for Lawrence J. Huschle, 94 of Richmond and formerly of Eden Valley who passed away peacefully at Cherrywood of Richmond on Wednesday. Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil, OSB will officiate and burial will be with full military honors at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Eden Valley. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley and one hour prior to the services Monday also at the church. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Eden Valley.

Lawrence was born on June 17, 1921 in Sisseton, SD to Mike M. and Susie (Ernster) Huschle. He served his country in the Army/Air Corps during WWII and received a purple heart. Lawrence endured 23 months and 21 days as a POW in Germany after his plane was shot down. After returning home, he married Monica Theis on May 8, 1947 in St. Nicholas. Lawrence was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley and a former member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Eden Valley prior to its closing. He farmed near Eden Valley and was the Chief of Police in Eden Valley for 15 years and after retirement he worked part-time for the Freeport Law Enforcement Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spending time up north at the cabin. Lawrence was generous, kind, considerate, gentle, and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his children, Thomas (Carole) of Richmond, Lona (Elmer) Brutger of Eden Valley, Dorothy (Al) Brutger of Eden Valley, Lucille (Vern) Brutger of Watkins, John (Jane) of Sutton, AK, Dale (Deborah) of Eden Valley and Grace (Stuart) Lonning of Aberdeen, SD; 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Monica on March 10, 2015; brothers, LeRoy, Raymond, and Jerome; and sister, Marcella Arnold.
