ST. PAUL (AP) - Minnesota lawmakers are worried about cell phone cases designed to look like handguns.

Reps. Joe Atkins and Dan Schoen announced legislation Friday that would ban the manufacture, sale and possession of the gun-shaped cases. Minnesota's Legislature won't reconvene until March.

In the meantime, the Democratic lawmakers are urging retailers not to sell the cases and asking Minnesotans not to buy them. Atkins says they're dangerous and "a disaster waiting to happen."

The new products are marketed as a novelty. But they've raised concerns nationwide about police officers confusing them for real firearms.
