Funeral Services will be private for Lavola “Patty” E. Emerson, age 84, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls at a later date. Friends and family are invited to an open house at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Moose Lodge in Waite Park.

Lavola was born Feb. 7, 1931 in Lynden Township to Francis & Edna (Connelly) Durnin. She married Edwin Emerson on April 30, 1951 in Foley. Patty was a homemaker and lived in St. Cloud all of her life. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, St. Cloud East Side VFW Post 4847 Auxiliary and the Red Hatters. Patty was involved in 500 game card clubs at the Ace Bar and at the Waite Park American Legion Post 428. She enjoyed crafts at Whitney, traveling, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending family events, where she always made the best potato salad ever. Patty was a warm, friendly, and very understanding person, who will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her stepson, Edwin, Jr. of Clearwater; sons and daughters, Larry (Shirley) of St. Cloud, Ron (Jeanette) of Hermosa, SD, Linda (Joe) Munsinger of St. Cloud, Gail (Al) Grzybowski of Dallas, TX and Norma (Bill) Plafcan of St. Cloud; sister, Donna Roche of Denver, CO; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Lavola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin in 2001; sister, Hazel Backhus; and brother, Bernard Durnin.
