LUTSEN (AP) - A northeastern Minnesota ski resort plans to stay open until May - its latest closing date ever.

Lutsen Mountains Ski Resort in Cook County still has two to four feet of snow on its runs. And, even with warming temperatures, the resort says it will operate for two more weekends, until May 4.

The resort's marketing director Jim Vick says it will give them a chance to make up for the bitter cold this winter which cut into business. More than 13 feet of snow fell this winter at Lutsen, four feet more than average.

Other ski areas in Minnesota closed during the first two weeks of April.
