LAKE CITY  (AP) - The condition of the police officer shot and wounded in a southeastern Minnesota city remains the same.

Mayo Clinic spokesman Joe Dangor said Tuesday Shawn Schneider remains in critical condition at the medical center's St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. The 32-year-old Lake City officer was shot in the head and neck Monday after responding to a domestic call.

Police say Schneider was shot by a man who was later found dead in the house of a self-inflicted gunshot. Authorities identified the shooter as 25-year-old Alan Sylte Jr. of Hager City, Wis. He didn't live in the house, but police believe he was involved in a domestic situation with a woman there. The woman left the residence before the officer was shot.
