ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (AP) — Eight months after Kira Steger went missing in Minnesota, her family has laid her to rest in her native Wisconsin.

Candles, flowers and pictures filled St. Mark's Parish in Rothschild, where more than 100 people gathered to pay their respects Saturday.

Steger was last seen alive in February, having dinner at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., with the husband she planned to divorce, Jeffrey Trevino, of St. Paul, Minn. Her body was recovered from the Mississippi River in May. Her husband was found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder Oct. 2. He faces sentencing next month but is trying to have the verdict dismissed.

Her mother, Marcie Steger, said laying her to rest is the hardest thing she's ever had to do, but living without her is even harder.
