KINGSTON -- One person was arrested in Meeker County after leading authorities on short pursuit.

The incident happened at about 5:45 p.m. Friday on 724th Avenue in Kingston Township.

Sheriff Brian Cruze says officers observed a vehicle failing to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 19 and County Road 27 and nearly hit another vehicle.

Deputies initiated a traffic stop, at which point the driver, 29-year-old Brian Brottem, sped off and a short pursuit began.

Brottem then drove off the road, through a fence at a ball field, returning to the road before driving off road into a small ravine in the area of 308th Street on 724th Avenue.

Further investigation found the vehicle Brottem was driving was stolen out of Wright County.

Brottem was air lifted to St. Cloud Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. His passenger, 30-year-old Nathan Psyk, of St. Cloud, was taken to the hospital by ambulance for his injuries.

Upon his release from the hospital, Brottem was arrested and taking to Meeker County Jail. He faces multiple charges.
