Kids Line Up for Rooster Crowing Contest [VIDEO]
SAUK RAPIDS -- A staple at the Benton County Fair is back, the rooster crowing contest.
After taking a one year break, due to the bird flu, kids came out to see who's rooster can crow the most.
Benton County Fair director and rooster crowing contest coordinator, Marilyn Kaschmitter says she's been organizing the contest for 30 years.
"Many years we had just a few [roosters] 8 or so and then there was years when we had 20," says Kaschmitter.
The rules are easy, which ever rooster crows the most during the 15 minute time period wins the contest.
"The winner is the one whose rooster crows the most, that may be only 3-4 times or maybe 20 times."
This year "Pecky" won with 17 crows. Pecky's owner Hunter of Foley was excited to win and hang up his plaque.
If you still haven't made your way out to the Benton County Fair you still have a chance, the fair will be open today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday).
