SAUK RAPIDS - The organization Kids Fighting Hunger in Sauk Rapids is sending food to the Philippines.

Executive Director Pam Beard says they've waited until now to ship the meals the to country devastated by a typhoon, because they want to make sure they had people in place there to distribute the food.

They sent 1.5 million meals earlier this week.

Beard says they have a goal of packaging 100,000 meals at their Sauk Rapids warehouse by the end of this week.

They already had a big packaging event scheduled for this Saturday.  There are no volunteer slots available for that event, but Beard says they are taking monetary donations to help pay for the food.
