Kayaker Rescued from Mississippi River In Sauk Rapids [VIDEO]

SAUK RAPIDS -- A kayaker was rescued on the Mississippi River this afternoon around 1:30 after her kayak capsized.

Anita Henningsgaard was found hanging onto a tree just north of the 9th Avenue Bridge.

She was with a second kayaker. St. Cloud Police, Sartell Police,  St. Cloud Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, and the Sheriff's Department responded to the incident.

An eyewitness said he saw two kayakers, one being Henningsgaard, coming down stream. After passing underneath the Sauk Rapids Bridge, only one kayaker appeared. The eyewitness then saw the second kayaker turn around and attempt to paddle back upstream towards Henningsgaard.  That's when the eyewitness said he called 9-1-1. Henningsgaard was successfully rescued along the west bank of the river.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
