ST. CLOUD -- Singer Kat Perkins, who rose to fame on the NBC show "The Voice", spoke to students at Cathedral High School today.

Perkins, a native of Scranton, North Dakota and current resident of Minneapolis, performed her hit song "Fearless" and spoke about the message that the song promotes.

"I'm speaking at a couple of different schools to talk about my message of anti-bullying and being nice to one another, being fearless and following their dreams," Perkins says.

Hundreds of students from 7th through 12th grade were in attendance to hear Perkins' message of reaching for their dreams while making a positive impact on the world.

Perkins says the opportunity to spread this message to kids in high school means a lot to her.

"Personally, this is really near and dear to my heart," Perkins says.

"I put together everything that I wanted to hear when I was in high school...I put it into this message - that I want them to know it's OK to follow your dreams, it's OK to be weird, it's OK to feel awkward, and [encourage them] to just keep going."

Perkins is in town to perform at Pioneer Place tomorrow (Saturday) for shows at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
