October 11, 1942 - March 22, 2015

 

Karen Jean Foss, age 72, of Nisswa, formerly of Princeton, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at her home, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born on October 11, 1942 in Princeton, the daughter of Royal and Beryl (Soldin) Gerth.

Karen grew up in Princeton, graduating from Princeton High School, the class of 1960. She was united in marriage to Gary Foss on September 8, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Princeton. They lived on a farm northeast of Princeton for many years. In 1980 the couple moved to Nisswa and operated the Shady Acres Resort on Clark Lake for five seasons. Following this Karen worked as the reservations manager at Breezy Point Resort for many years, until her retirement.

Karen enjoyed gardening, traveling, puzzles and reading. She loved stirring things up and engaging in deep conversations with people. Most of all she loved spending time with her family; her grandchildren and great-granddaughter especially. She will be dearly missed.

Karen is survived by her children, April Foss of Delano, Ward Foss of Nisswa and Heath Foss of Nisswa; grandchildren, Bryanna (Jake Saddler) and their daughter Amelia, Garrett Foss and EmmaLee Foss; siblings, Diane Schwarten of Milwaukee, Gayle (Patrick) Shields of Stillwater, Tim (Theresa) Gerth of Princeton, Suzanne Julson of Delano and Phyllis (Kurt) Kern of Bloomington; along with many cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gary; and brother-in-law Jerry Schwarten.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Princeton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sandy Lake Cemetery in rural Princeton.
