MOORHEAD (AP) - A federal jury has ruled a Moorhead police officer did not use excessive force when he used a stun gun on a 75-year-old man.

The ruling follows a lawsuit filed by James Van Raden, who claimed Officer Steve Larsen unreasonably used a stun gun on him during a welfare check at his home.

The Moorhead Police Department said in a news release that the ruling in the trial came Wednesday afternoon after 90 minutes of deliberation.

Claims against two other Moorhead officers and allegations of false arrested were dismissed earlier this year.
