ST. CLOUD - Weather wise July of 2011 will be one to remember.

According to the St. Cloud State University weather summary, it tied with 2006 as our 8th warmest July ever in St. Cloud.  You have to go all the way back to 1936 to find a warmer July.  We had eight days with highs in the 90s.  We also had unusually high heat indices, including a reading of 117 on July 19th.

And then there was the historic streak of warm lows. St. Cloud had five straight days with lows staying in the 70s.  This was our 6th warmest average low July temperature in 115 years of records.

Heavy rains and storms were the other weather story for the month, it was our 12th wettest July on record with over 5.6 inches of rain.  And we had several rounds of storms throughout the month - including a tornado in Waite Park on July 1st - that knocked down hundreds of trees.
