Judge Awards $15 Million To Victims Of 2014 Rochester Crash

ROCHESTER (AP) - A judge has awarded $15 million to the family of victims of a head-on crash in Rochester that killed a 9-year-old boy, paralyzed a 7-year-old boy and seriously injured a woman.

Fifty-nine-year-old Gerald Mohs was sentenced in January 2015 to nearly five years in prison after pleading guilty to felony vehicular homicide and other charges. Authorities say he was driving drunk the wrong way on a Rochester street when he caused the September 2014 crash.

It killed 9-year-old William Siems, and injured his 29-year-old aunt, Amber Bishop, and her 7-year-old son, Jeramiya Bishop.

The victims' family later sued Mohs and three bars that served him alcohol for wrongful death and personal injury.  Judge Joseph Chase ruled on the damage amount last week.
