ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Antique Auto Club, nicknamed "The Pantowners" is dedicated to classic car enthusiasts and the preservation of antique automobiles.

Jerry Plachecki is one of the founders of the group and says classic cars are an obsession of his.

"My wife kept track and she said it was something like 40 different cars that I've had, bought or sold," Plachecki says, "It's a very serious disease that cannot be cured but sometimes it can be put into remission."

The Club was formed in 1971, Plachecki says the group has outlasted many other antique auto clubs Minnesota.

"Some fell apart over time, they just couldn't do it, but for some reason-ours doesn't."

The club meets through the year, even with a small window of time to bring the cars outdoors during the summer. The group hosts an annual auto show at the Benton County Fairgrounds in August.

Plachecki says a sense of family and community has contributed towards the groups longevity. Many members enjoy the social aspect and talking to other car enthusiasts.

"The bulk of these guys here I think are just here for the beverages," Plachecki jokes.

Anyone who loves classic cars is welcome to join the St. Cloud Antique Auto Club. Membership for one year is $20.
