Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00AM Tuesday January 6, 2015 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring for John W. Zapp who died Friday at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring. The Rev. Matthew Luft, O.S.B. will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery in St. Cloud. Friends and relatives may call from 9-11AM Tuesday at the church in Cold Spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

John was born in St. Cloud to Otto J. & Lillian (Lausted) Zapp. He grew up in St. Cloud and attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Cathedral High School. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He is a 1951 graduate of St. John’s University. John worked as an accountant for the Stearns County Auditor’s Office for 40 years and later worked for Gambles Departments store in Illinois. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud and is currently a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. He was active as a communion minister and sacristan and was a member of the Serra Club in St. Cloud. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, watching TV and spending time at the Cold Spring VFW with friends.

Survivors include his cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Hilda Peters Zapp, siblings, Warren Zapp, Elaine King, Patricia Zapp and Richard Zapp.
