John T. Fitzgibbons, 82, Cold Spring

October 25, 1934 - April 22, 2017

John T. Fitzgibbons, age 82 died Saturday at his home after a short battle with cancer with his wife and daughter by his side. A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring, MN.

John was born on October 25, 1934 in Duluth, MN to Howard and Irma (Haedt) Fitzgibbons. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1952. John served in the Army Security Agency from 1952-1955. He married and had 4 children and later divorced. John then married Susanne Gail Olson in 1976; they moved to Cold Spring in 1986. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1989 as Postmaster in Cold Spring. After retirement, he served as Director of the Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce. He was also Office Manager at Tom Kraemer Inc. and Past Master of Euclid Lodge 198 AF & AM. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and walking with his dog Corky.

Survivors include his wife, Suzy; his four children, Tim, Jeff, Mark (Erin), Christy (Rocky) Vine; step-children, David Garrison, Richard Olson; 5 grandchildren, Alexandra, Cooper, and Annika Vine, Grady and Hudson Fitzgibbons; brothers-in-law, Gilbert (Linda) Smith, George Wilp; special friend, Loretta Rowel; Aunt Ardy; many nieces and nephews and cousins; his beloved dog, Corky and his two cats, Buddy and Mandy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanne; parents-in-law, Gilbert Sr. and Virginia Smith and many Aunts and Uncles.
