Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, February 8th at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for John N. “Jack” Kalkman, age 91, of St. Cloud, who died on Wednesday at the Country Manor Health Care and Retirement Center in Sartell. Rev. Greg Lieser will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday between 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and on Monday one hour prior to services at the Church. Parish Prayers will be at 3:00 PM.

Jack was born May 10th, 1924 in St. Cloud to John and Christine (Bussen) Kalkman. He served in the US Army 101st Airborne Division during WWII. He married Lucile Schwankl on September 5th, 1947 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. Jack lived in St. Cloud all of his life. He was employed as a Paint Superintendent for Franklin Manufacturing for 40 years. He retired in 1986. He was a charter member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, VFW Post 428, and the Disabled American Veterans.

Jack and Lucile enjoyed their cabin with their children and grandchildren. They wintered in Mission, Texas for 15 years, and enjoyed travelling all over North America including Alaska. They felt very blessed to have travelled to Medjugorje and honored to have met Pope John Paul II.

Survivors include his wife Lucile, children, Cindy Hoene (Mike), Ft. Myers, FL, Jim Kalkman (Debbie) Winfield, IL, Dave Kalkman (Deborah) Gardner, KS, Chuck Kalkman (Sharon) Sartell, John Kalkman (Karen) Sauk Rapids, Paul Kalkman (Gaily) Sherwood, OR, Mary Kalkman, Burnsville, Joe Kalkman (Cathy) Eagan, Bill Kalkman (Marcia) Gilbert, AR, Steve Kalkman (Joan) Pensacola, FL, 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, brother, Donald Kalkman, Owatonna.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters, Adrian, Bernelda, Milton “Bud”, Elvira and Leora “Cookie”.
