Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Celebration Lutheran Church in Sartell, for John G. Seiler, age 51 of Sartell. John passed away September 8 due to injuries he received in a bicycle accident, doing what he loved. Burial will take place in the St. John’s Cemetery in Collegeville.

Visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, September 14 and one hour prior to services on Tuesday, both at Celebration Lutheran Church in Sartell.

John was born July 2, 1964 in Algoma, Wisconsin to Kenneth and Veronica (Stoller) Seiler. He graduated from Southern Door High School and went on to graduate from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN in 1987 with a major in Accounting. His career included working for DBL Labs, Antioch Corp (Creative Memories), W3i, and currently was employed by Trek Bicycles.

John was a cherished member and generous volunteer for numerous local athletic groups and events. He was a member of the executive board of the Sartell Apple Duathlon for 25 years. John was a member of the Saint Cloud River Runners club for 15+ years and hosted a breakfast run at his home every year on the weekend of the Viking/Packers game. A member of the Nordic Ski Club of Central Minnesota, John often gave free ski clinics. An avid cyclist, he did regular trail maintenance and was a member of numerous clubs including the Mid Minnesota Cycling Club and Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) in Wisconsin. John was a member of St. Cloud DuTri, a local duathlon/triathlon training club. Just four days before his death, John had a wonderful race at the Harvest Duathlon, coming in second in his age group.

John loved to support the SJU Football and St Cloud Husky Hockey teams and was a dedicated Packer fan. He enjoyed time outdoors, staying active and vacationing in Door County WI. He was a silent supporter of many youth and community events in several states.

John is survived by his father Kenneth F. Seiler of Forestville, WI, siblings Marie Seiler of DePere, WI, Sara (David Bonk) Laubenstein of North Prairie, WI, Kenneth M. (Susan) Seiler of Edina, MN, Monica (Ray Sjogren) Cofell of St. Joseph, Steven (Sandi) Seiler of Green Bay, WI, Lisa Seiler of Sartell, Barbara (Richard) Grelson of St. Cloud, Lynn Mauritz of Green Bay, WI and Michael (Karen) Seiler of Muskego, WI and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many close friends.

John is preceded in death by his mother Veronica, nephew Kenneth James Seiler, and brother-in-law Gary Laubenstein.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers and will be used to John’s favorite youth and community programs.
