Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Rockville, MN for John Francis Hoffmann Jr., age 87, who died Wednesday at his home. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Rockville.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, Rockville. Visitation will continue Thursday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Church.

John was born on the family farm in St. Joseph Township to John Sr. and Clara (Roden) Hoffmann. He married Martha Lintgen on June 10, 1950 in Mayhew Lake, MN. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. Above all things family and faith were very important to John. He enjoyed farming, playing cards, reading, bowling, hunting and fishing. John was the accordion player for the Bobby Roberts Band for over 50 years and continued to play at local nursing homes. He and Jack Schuh played together and became known as the “Music Men.” John was a member of Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus, former parish council member and a member of the church choir.

Survivors include his children, Dennis (Sue) of Cold Spring, Sue (Mark) Schneider of St. Cloud, Gary of St. Cloud, Karen (Rob) Mapes of Waite Park and Mark of St. Cloud; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Agnes Hoffmann, Helen Hoffmann, Marian Janssen, and Donna Poganski.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha (2011); 3 infant grandchildren, Amelia Rose, Angela Marie, Matthew Michael Hoffmann; infant brother, Patrick; infant sister, Rose; brothers, David and George.
