John A. Gapinski, age 86, of Foley, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 1, 2014 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman. The Rev. Daniel Walz & Rev. Timothy Gapinski will Concelebrate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 Sunday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley after 8:30 AM at the church on Monday. Parish Prayers will be at 7 PM followed by the Knight's of Columbus Rosary at 8 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home.

John Gapinski was born April 15, 1928 in Alberta Township, Benton Co. to Harry and Mary (Zylla) Gapinski. He married Esther Przybilla on June 7, 1960 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Buckman. John had a lifetime passion for farming in rural Foley and after retirement relocated to Gilman where they built their retirement home. John was a faithful member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the Gilman Knight's of Columbus, Immaculate Mary Council 9261, a member of the Crosier Apostolate and a past officer of the local Catholic United Financial Council. John was an inspiration to many and brought smiles to faces after his one-liners. He was a devoted and loving husband, a kind, caring and faithful father, grandfather and great grandfather. John will be dearly missed. Memorial are preferred to Quiet Oaks Hospice House or charity of donors choice.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife Esther, of 54 years, and children, John (Brenda Braun), Foley; Diane (Dale) Symanietz, Rice; Rita (Marvin) Trettel, Little Falls; Paul (Joan Posterick), Foley; Bernie (Amy Bromenschenkel), St. Cloud; Larry (Lisa Helmin), Foley; Bob (Michelle Steiner), Clearwater; Greg (Carrie Moulzolf), Foley; Mary Kay (Gary) Eiynck, St. Joseph and Steve (Tammy Shinn) of Jamestown, ND; 28 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild

John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Frances Prom, Margaret Gapinski, Bridget Czech, Monica Korson and Benedictine Sister, Elta Gapinski and sister, Marl Gapinski.
